Booth installed at Islamabad International Airport to provide currency exchange services
A new currency exchange facility has been
inaugurated in the International Arrivals Lounge of Islamabad International Airport, aimed at
improving passenger convenience and enhancing arrival services for
international travelers.
The booth, operated by Pakistan Currency Exchange, will provide
on-the-spot foreign currency exchange services, enabling passengers to convert
their money into local currency immediately upon arrival in Islamabad.
Enhancing Passenger
Experience
The addition of a dedicated currency exchange counter in the arrivals area addresses a common need for international passengers, particularly those arriving for the first time. Travelers often require local currency for transportation, communication, and basic expenses such as taxis and food. With this new facility, passengers can avoid delays and inconvenience associated with searching for exchange services outside the airport.

Airport officials noted that the initiative is
part of broader efforts to upgrade passenger amenities and align the airport’s
services with international standards.
Growing Importance of
Islamabad Airport
Since its inauguration in 2018, Islamabad International Airport has become a
major gateway for international travel to and from Pakistan. With increasing
passenger traffic, the demand for efficient and accessible services—such as
currency exchange, banking, and transport—has grown significantly.
The presence of licensed exchange operators
within airport premises also ensures transparency and regulated exchange rates,
providing travelers with a safer alternative to informal currency exchange
options.
Supporting Travel and
Tourism
The new booth is expected to benefit not only
foreign tourists but also overseas Pakistanis returning home. Easy access to
currency exchange services helps streamline the arrival process and contributes
to a more welcoming travel experience.
Authorities have indicated that further improvements in passenger facilitation services are planned as part of ongoing efforts to modernize airport infrastructure across the country.
