ICAO grants award to Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority
(PCAA) for aviation security
The Pakistan Civil Aviation
Authority (PCAA) has been awarded the prestigious Council President Certificate
(CPC) by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), recognizing
Pakistan’s significant progress in strengthening aviation security standards.
The accolade was announced at ICAO’s
42nd Assembly Session held in Montreal, Canada, from September 23 to October 3,
2025. It highlights Pakistan’s improved compliance with global aviation safety
and security regulations.
Receiving the award on behalf of
Pakistan, PCAA Director General Nadir Shafi Dar said the recognition reflects
years of consistent effort to enhance aviation oversight and align national
practices with ICAO’s global benchmarks. “Pakistan places great importance on
aviation security,” he said, noting that the country’s Effective Implementation
(EI) rating rose to 84.69% in the 2024 Coordinated Validation Mission,
exceeding both regional and global averages. The country also achieved 86.79%
in the Universal Security Audit Programme (USAP) the same year.
