Sialkot International Airport concludes highly successful first half of 2025
Sialkot International Airport (SIAL) has concluded a highly successful first
half of 2025, marked by significant growth in operations, infrastructure
expansion, and enhanced diplomatic and business engagement, according to a
press release issued Monday.
Over the past six months, SIAL handled nearly 450,000 passengers and
operated more than 1,300 flights, reflecting steady operational performance. In
parallel, the airport facilitated the export of over 4,350 tonnes of cargo to
global markets—reaffirming Sialkot’s critical role in Pakistan’s export-driven
economy and as a hub for the country’s business community.

Terminal Expansion and Safety Compliance
With a strong focus on modernization and passenger convenience, SIAL has
formally launched the expansion of its International Passenger Terminal, aiming
to increase capacity and elevate service standards to global benchmarks.
Demonstrating its commitment to safety and compliance, the airport successfully
conducted a full-scale emergency response exercise, adhering to the Pakistan
Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA)’s protocols—further cementing SIAL’s
operational readiness and regulatory alignment.
Strengthening Diplomatic Ties
The first half of the year also witnessed important diplomatic visits and
engagements. SIAL Chairman Hassan Ali Bhatti, Vice Chairman Faraz Akram Awan,
and CEO AVM (R) Tanweer Ashraf Bhatti held a productive meeting with the US
Consul General, exploring avenues for future cooperation in aviation.
Additionally, the Ambassadors of Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia visited the
airport, underscoring its growing profile in international aviation and
diplomacy.

Crisis Response and National Solidarity
During recent tensions in the region amid the Pakistan–India conflict, SIAL
swiftly implemented all necessary precautionary measures in line with
directives from the Pakistan Airports Authority and Civil Aviation. The airport
administration also expressed full support for the Pakistan Armed Forces, later
commemorating their bravery and victory with a formal tribute.
