PIA temporarily halts flights to
Türkiye over inventory issues
Pakistan International Airlines
(PIA) has temporarily suspended its flight operations to Türkiye. The
suspension, which affects flights from Islamabad and Lahore, will remain in
place until October 13 due to inventory challenges and issues with securing
airport slots.
PIA currently operates four weekly
flights to Türkiye, and the disruption is expected to impact both cities.

In a related development, PIA has
also halted all flights that use Iranian airspace following missile attacks by
Iran on Israel, as per official orders. A spokesperson for the airline
confirmed that flight plans are being adjusted and that Iran’s airspace will
not be utilized until the situation stabilizes.
PIA typically uses two main air
corridors through Iran: the Northern Corridor for flights to Canada and
Türkiye, and the Southern Corridor for routes to the UAE, Bahrain, Doha, and
Saudi Arabia.

Airlines to increase flights to Pakistan
As tensions in the region escalate,
Israel and Jordan have closed their airspace to civilian flights, leading
several international airlines to suspend services to Israel and Lebanon. In
response, Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued new directives
to the Pakistan Air Traffic Control (ATC) to increase surveillance of its
airspace, particularly for flights entering from Iran and Afghanistan.
These measures reflect Pakistan’s
efforts to safeguard its airspace amid rising regional tensions.
