PIA's privatization process to be completed by October
Federal Minister for Aviation,
Khawaja Asif, informed the National Assembly that the privatization process of
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will be finalized by the end of October
2024.
Speaking during a National Assembly
session in Islamabad, he addressed concerns about the prolonged closure of
Hyderabad airport, explaining that PIA cannot operate financially unviable
routes due to its Rs. 800 billion debt.

However, he said, the government has
no objections if a private airline wants to operate flights from Hyderabad
airport.
