PIA's bidding process will be broadcast live to ensure transparency
The bidding process for Pakistan
International Airlines Company (PIAC) will be broadcast live on October 1,
2024, following approval from the Cabinet, the National Assembly's Standing
Committee on Privatization announced on Tuesday.
During a committee meeting chaired
by Muhammad Farooq Sattar, it was confirmed that the live telecast will ensure
transparency in the privatization process. According to a press release from
the National Assembly Secretariat, the Ministry of Privatization's Secretary
assured the committee that the winning company or consortium's contract would
be finalized soon after the bidding.

The committee was also assured that
employee rights would be safeguarded throughout the privatization process.
Additionally, the committee
established a Sub-Committee to investigate the reasons for the decline of PIAC.
The Sub-Committee will be led by Ms. Sehar Kamran as convener, with Ms. Sofia
Saeed Shah and Ms. Saba Sadiq serving as members, and will submit its findings
to the main committee.
