Pakistan’s aviation authority asks EU to review ban on PIA flights
The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has formally requested the
European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to restore flight permissions for
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to the EU and the UK. This follows the
CAA's briefing of EASA on recent aviation safety measures.
Over the past two days, CAA and EASA officials have conducted several
technical sessions focused on reinstating PIA flights to Europe and the UK.
During these detailed discussions, the CAA outlined the safety improvements and
confirmed that all EASA-imposed conditions have been met. The CAA has urged
EASA to grant immediate authorization for the resumption of flights.

keeps ban on PIA flights to Europe
Sources indicate that the Pakistani government aims to have PIA flights to
Europe and the UK reinstated before the airline's planned privatization is
completed.
EASA is expected to review the situation at a meeting scheduled for November
19-21, 2024.
This meeting will assess the progress made by Pakistani airlines and the CAA
in addressing aviation safety concerns. EASA’s previous meeting on May 31
resulted in the continuation of the ban, initially imposed in June 2020
following a scandal involving fake pilot licenses.
