Describing the airport as a cornerstone project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the minister emphasized that with the ongoing training of Pakistani personnel in China, the NGIA is expected to evolve into a pivotal air transport hub, facilitating connectivity across diverse regions.

As operational proficiency is vital for NGIA's success, 20 Pakistani officials are currently undergoing comprehensive training courses in China. The program, facilitated by China Airport Construction Group, aims to transfer technical expertise and operational knowledge essential for independent airport management. This initiative marks a pioneering effort in enhancing technical, administrative, and managerial competencies among NGIA staff, according to Chinese media reports.

NGIA features state-of-the-art infrastructure including runways, aprons, terminals, and comprehensive civil, technical, electrical, and communication facilities spread over an initial 4,300-acre phase. The airport's development, including future cargo handling capabilities, positions it to become Pakistan's largest upon completion.

The training expenses for Pakistani personnel are covered entirely under China Aid, reflecting a deepening collaboration in aviation sector development between Pakistan and China.
