ICAO team to arrive in Pakistan to conduct audit of CAA
A delegation representing the International Civil Aviation
Organisation (ICAO) is set to touch down in Pakistan today to commence an audit
of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
This audit, taking place over a five-day span from November
5 to November 10, will primarily assess the flight safety and maintenance standards upheld by the aviation regulatory body.

audit team to visit Pakistan
The purpose behind this audit is Pakistan's desire to obtain
ICAO's approval to resume flights to Europe and the United Kingdom (UK) after a
ban that has been in place since July 2021.
These restrictions were imposed following the Karachi plane
crash on May 20, 2022, and a statement made by the then Aviation Minister
Ghulam Sarwar, revealing that around 40 percent of Pakistani pilots held
counterfeit licenses.
Leading the ICAO delegation will be Manjeet Singh. Their
assessment will encompass various critical aspects of aviation, including
license standards, flight safety measures, and air traffic control protocols.

During their visit, the ICAO team will inspect several key
aviation facilities, including airports in Lahore and Karachi, as well as the
CAA Headquarters in Karachi.
Moreover, the ICAO team will scrutinize regulatory
preparations and procedures that govern Pakistani aviation. These assessments
will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of flights
operating in European airspace.
